Use the Sales Assistant to Stay Consistent Every Week

Knowing what works on Upwork isn't the hard part. Doing it every week is. The Sales Assistant (the light bulb next to Abi at the top right of your dashboard) turns your own feeds, bids and target into at most three short suggestions, each with one action. It only shows a suggestion while it's true, and it never locks you out of anything.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1
Set up your account first
The Sales Assistant switches on once your Getting Started steps are done: an income target, your first feed and your first tracked bid. Until then, the checklist on Overview is your guide.
2
Open the light bulb
A number on the light bulb shows how many suggestions are waiting. Click it to see them. Each one is a single line with one action.
3
Review today's matches
"You have N matched jobs today" takes you to Job Feeds. Preview a job for free before spending anything, then generate a bid on the ones worth your connects.
4
Hit your weekly bids
"Apply to 3 strong-match jobs this week (X of 3)" counts the bids you've actually sent this week. It clears on its own when you reach 3.
5
Check in on quiet bids
"N bids haven't moved in 7+ days. Has the client replied?" takes you to the Bid Tracker. Move each bid to where it really is (interviewing, offer, hired or lost), so your win rate and pipeline stay accurate.

Strategic Pro-Tips

Pro Tip #1

Dismiss a suggestion if it doesn't apply today. It comes back only if it's still true tomorrow.

Pro Tip #2

Updating quiet bids matters more than it looks: after 8 tracked bids, your plan switches from typical win rates to your own.

Pro Tip #3

There's no score or streak to chase. A suggestion counts as done only when the real thing happens: bids sent, tracker updated.
